John Buchanan

CMO at LegalZoom

John Buchanan joined LegalZoom in 2020 from the National Football League, where he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Sciences, leading the league’s efforts in marketing strategy, fan engagement, media planning and buying, research, data and insights, marketing technology, and performance marketing initiatives. In his time there, the league reached all-time highs in total fan engagement, including female and Hispanic engagement, and reversed a 7-year youth affinity decline. Prior to the NFL, John spent much of his career as a Marketing and Sales executive, building global marketing, brand, and product strategies at companies like Adobe, Electronic Arts, Mattel, and Yahoo!. While serving as the Global Vice President of Marketing at Adobe, his team’s responsibilities spanned across all lines of the business, including direct-to-consumer, business-to-business, and education. The business saw substantial growth in revenue and profit across multiple product lines during his time there, including in its subscription-based services, and the Marketing department experienced a significant increase in budget and support. John holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Southern California, one in Political Science and the other in International Relations. He currently serves on the advisory board of the USC Marshall Undergraduate School of Business, guest lectures at USC and other universities, and advises several nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping under-served communities.
