Sharon O'Neill, PhD has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and medical research fields. Sharon is currently the Associate Director of Business Development and Site Management at Legend Biotech since March 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Manager of Business Development and Site Operations at the same company from April 2021 to March 2022. In addition, they worked as a Business Development Manager from January 2019 to March 2022 and as an Interim Site Lead in Ireland from July 2019 to April 2021.

Before joining Legend Biotech, Sharon worked at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School as a Research Associate and Research Assistant from December 2009 to October 2012 and from October 2007 to December 2009, respectively. During their time there, they focused on studying the role of Tryptophan hydroxylase 2 (TPH2) in mood disorders. Sharon gained expertise in mammalian cell culture, protein expression, DNA/RNA isolation, molecular cloning, and HPLC.

Prior to their work at Duke-NUS, Sharon worked as a Technical Specialist at Abbott Lab from September 2005 to June 2007 and as an R&D Scientist at Trinity Biotech from May 2004 to September 2005.

Sharon O'Neill, PhD, earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology/Translational Medicine from University College Dublin, completing their studies from 2013 to 2017. Prior to their PhD, they obtained their MSc in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Notre Dame, where they studied from 2001 to 2004. Sharon also holds a BSc (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology from University College Dublin, which they achieved between 1997 and 2001.
