Dr. Isabela Santos Valentim is a postdoctoral researcher at the Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) Leibniz Institute on Aging, with a focus on aging, circadian rhythms, proteostasis, and chromatin landscape. Dr. Valentim has conducted extensive research involving proteomics and genome editing, collaborated internationally, and contributed to the training of lab colleagues. Previously a PhD fellow supervised by Dr. Maria Ermolaeva, Dr. Valentim has a strong background in neuroscience and age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, Dr. Valentim has volunteered as a project manager for the European Sleep Research Society's social media initiatives since 2020. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Biology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, a Master's in Neurobiology and Neurosciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a Bachelor's in Biology from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.

Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI)

Aging is a multifactorial process - determined by genetic factors and environmental influences. The Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena is dedicated to researching the underlying biological processes. The FLI was the first research institute for biomedical aging research in Germany when it was founded in 2004. The goal of our research is to decipher genetic, epigenetic, and molecular processes and point the way to new therapies that reduce the risk of developing cancer and other diseases in old age. The FLI has nearly 300 employees, about half of them researchers who have come to Jena from 30 countries around the world. We are convinced that our research creates the knowledge base to extend the human health span in old age.
