Maria Chernysheva is a Junior Research Group Leader at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology since January 2019, focusing on ultrafast laser development, new mode-locking methodologies, and mid-infrared generation, with applications in biophotonics and gyroscopy. Previously, Maria served as an Engineering for Development Research Fellow at Aston University from March 2015 to January 2019, where laser system design and biophotonics were key areas of focus. Prior experiences include roles as a Marie Curie Research Fellow and Research Associate, emphasizing laser system design, data analysis, and the investigation of carbon nanomaterials. Maria's career began at the Fiber Optics Research Center of the Russian Academy of Science as a Research Assistant. Maria holds a Ph.D. in Mode-locked Fibre Lasers and an Engineer's degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
