Mark van der Loo

Mark van der Loo is an accomplished researcher and educator with extensive experience in statistics, data science, and computer science. Currently serving as an Elected Member at the International Statistical Institute and a Research Fellow at Leiden University, Mark supervises PhD students and engages in interdisciplinary research. As a Senior Researcher at Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek, Mark manages the curriculum for the CBS Academy, focusing on official statistics, IT, and data science. Mark's teaching expertise is demonstrated through roles at Tridata and various international institutions, where courses on statistical programming, data cleaning, and reproducible research are delivered. With a background in theoretical chemistry from Radboud University, Mark has published numerous papers and served in editorial positions, including Editor in Chief of The R Journal.
