David Lane

David Lane is an accomplished academic and industry leader with extensive experience in robotics and autonomous systems. Currently serving as a Non-Executive Director at Kingdom Technologies and a member of the AI Strategic Advisory Team at UK Research and Innovation, David also holds a long-standing role as a Research Fellow Mentor and Business Mentor at the Royal Academy of Engineering. As a Professor Emeritus at Heriot-Watt University, David has contributed significantly to the field through teaching and research, particularly in autonomous underwater vehicles and marine robotics. Additionally, David is the founder of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics and director of the ORCA Hub, focusing on innovations in the offshore energy sector.
