Rutger de Jong

Rutger de Jong is an experienced information specialist and subject librarian at Leiden University since March 2015, focusing on the needs of researchers and teachers while managing the university's repositories for scholarly publications and theses. With a Master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Groningen, Rutger has expertise in data management, Open Access, and bibliometrics, teaching information skills to an average of 1,000 students annually. Prior roles include final editor and designer at Energieprojecten.com, freelance journalist with contributions to various publications, and coordinator/interim editor in chief at BETA Publishers, where Rutger managed teams, networked with scientists, and wrote articles on life sciences and chemistry. Additional education includes a course in copy editing from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
