Jade Abbott

Jade Abbott is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in various technical roles and domains. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Lelapa AI since August 2022, and as Co-Founder of Masakhane since August 2019, Jade has a proven track record in software development, specializing in data science and machine learning across FinTech, NGO, and Future of Work applications. Past positions include Principal Scientist & Staff Engineer at Retro Rabbit, where responsibilities included training and deploying natural language processing systems, as well as roles at Cohere and teaching positions as a lecturer at both the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Pretoria. Jade holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science from the University of Pretoria.
