Russell Opland

Russell Opland currently serves as the Global Data Protection Officer at Lemongrass, overseeing a comprehensive privacy program across multiple countries since February 2022. Previously, Russell was the first Data Protection Officer at Adams & Adams, focusing on GDPR and POPIA compliance from July 2019 to February 2022. With extensive experience in the privacy sector, Russell operated as an independent privacy advisor, leveraging over a decade of executive leadership, and held key roles at PwC and EY, specializing in privacy practices across Southern Africa. Additional roles included Systemwide Privacy Officer at the University of California, Chief Privacy and Information Security Officer at Penn Medicine, and various positions in IT security and oversight at Endo International and the University of Pennsylvania. Russell holds advanced degrees in public health and law, complemented by a strong foundation in cognitive science.
