Simon Harwood

Simon Harwood is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in strategy, technology, and innovation. Currently serving as the UK (CTO) Strategy, Technology and Innovation Director at Leonardo since January 2022, Simon is tasked with developing and delivering the company's strategy and enhancing future capabilities through research and development. As a Strategic Advisor at HEROTECH8 LTD, Simon contributes to the advancement of robotic infrastructure technology for automated drone services. Previous roles include District Councillor for North Hertfordshire District Council, Chairman of Academic-RISC, Managing Director at Cranfield Defence and Security Services Ltd., and Director of Defence and Security at Cranfield University. Simon has also held significant positions at Boeing and the UK Ministry of Defence, and possesses a PhD and BSc in Chemistry from the University of Hull, along with advanced education from Harvard Business School and the University of Cambridge.
