Michael van Straten

Michael van Straten is the current CFO at Lessor. Michael has held this position since May of 2018. Prior to that, they were the Financial Director for the Nordic region at Sysmex Europe from June 2016 to May 2018. Michael was responsible for finance and administrative processes in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Michael was also in charge of reporting and analyzing financial performance in SAP & BPC, ISO audits and Quality Management processes, risk management and monitoring, review of new projects and analysis of financial benefits, expansion of the current organization and establishment of new processes and procedures, developing and implementing Finance & IT strategy for all 3 countries.

Before their time at Sysmex Europe, Michael was the CFO at Lumigon from July 2015 to May 2016. And before Lumigon, they were the Financial Director for the Marine Division Servest SA from October 2012 to June 2015.

Michael has been in the finance industry for over 20 years. Michael started their career as an External Auditor at Grant Thornton South Africa from January 2001 to December 2003. Michael then became the Head of Damco Finance System Implementation and Integration at A.P. Moller - Maersk from December 2003 to September 2012. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team that implemented and integrated a new finance system for Damco, which is a global provider of freight forwarding and supply chain management services.

Michael van Straten was a chartered accountant and an auditor. Michael studied at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the University of Cape Town, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Stellenbosch University. Michael matriculated from Rondebosch Boys' High School. Michael is certified by SAICA CA(SA) as a chartered accountant.
