Jouni Korhonen currently heads enterprise risk management at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. The FHLB is a Government Sponsored Enterprise (GSE), covering financial institutions based in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Prior to relocating back to California in 2015, he served in a senior global risk role at Qatar National Bank in Doha, Qatar. QNB is the largest bank in the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to 2012, he served as Senior Vice President and Manager of Portfolio Risk Management at Union Bank in San Francisco. Before joining UB in 2006, Mr. Korhonen was Senior Vice President and Manager of Credit Risk Architecture at Wells Fargo Bank. Previously, he was Managing Director of Credit Products at Bank of America. His earlier positions at the bank included the Regional Manager of the Middle East & North Africa (Dubai, UAE); and the Manager of the Europe/Middle East/Africa Division’s Agency Department (London, U.K.).
Mr. Korhonen received a Bachelor of Arts, as a double major in international affairs and business administration, from Lewis & Clark College in 1982. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Harvard University.
