Laura Wilmarth Tyna has extensive experience in community engagement and leadership development. Laura has held various roles throughout their career, including Director of Community Engaged Learning at Lewis University, where they oversaw the academic community-based learning program and built collaborative relationships with community partners. Laura also served as a Co-Lead Facilitator for LeaderShape, Inc., working with college students to create a more just and caring world. Additionally, they have served as a board member for Fairmont Community Partnership Group, Inc., advocating for the Fairmont Community and connecting them to opportunities. Laura has also held leadership positions in non-profit organizations, such as Board President for Both Community Services Council of Will County and Just Roots Chicago. Furthermore, they have experience in coordinating service-learning programs and community outreach at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Baldwin Wallace University. Prior to that, Laura worked as a Coordinator of Off-Campus Housing at the University of Maryland, College Park. With their diverse experience and expertise, Laura has made significant contributions to the field of community engagement and leadership development.
Laura Wilmarth Tyna has a Doctor of Education - EdD degree in Student Affairs Administration and Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (2022 - present). Laura also holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland (2002 - 2004) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1998 - 2002). Prior to their college education, they attended Rochelle Township High School from 1994 to 1998.
