LGBT Youth Scotland
Cara English is an experienced professional in policy, participation, and public engagement, currently serving as the Head of Policy, Participation and Research at LGBT Youth Scotland since April 2024. Previously, Cara held the position of Head of Public Engagement at Gendered Intelligence, overseeing all activities related to public policy, media, research, and campaigning from January 2018 to April 2024. Cara has also worked as a Policy Engagement Officer, where collaboration with the CEO and stakeholders was crucial in developing strategies for trans equality. Additional experience includes collaboration with Wellcome Trust at The Liminal Space and campaign initiatives at Quaker Social Action, notably leading campaigns on funeral poverty. Cara's earlier roles involved content production and editing in various digital and print media. Cara holds a Master of Arts in English Language from the University of Glasgow.

LGBT Youth Scotland is the largest youth and community-based organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) young people in Scotland. Our vision is that Scotland is the best place to grow up for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex young people. Our mission is to play a leading role in the provision of quality youth work to LGBTI young people that promotes their health and wellbeing, and to be a valued and influential partner in LGBTI equality and human rights.
