Lionel Choi

Lionel Choi has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Lionel currently serves as the Managing Director, Head of Wealth Planning Singapore at LGT Private Banking since April 2022. Prior to this, Lionel worked as the Managing Director, Wealth Planning at LGT Private Banking from October 2015 to April 2022. In addition, they hold the position of Chairman, Singapore Branch at STEP – Advising Families Across Generations starting from June 2022 onwards.

Lionel also has experience in the arts industry, having founded Altenburg Arts in April 2018. This arts consultancy firm focuses on classical music and aims to become a premier presenter of world-class productions and projects.

Before entering the banking and arts sectors, Lionel worked as a Private Client Director at RBC Wealth Management from July 2012 to September 2015. Lionel also held the role of Director, International Trust & Wealth Structuring at Merrill Lynch from September 2004 to June 2012.

Prior to their financial career, Lionel worked as a Classical Music Reviewer at The Straits Times from 1997 to 2007. Lionel gained legal experience as a Solicitor at DLA Piper from June 2003 to August 2004 and as a Legal Associate at J Koh & Co from July 2000 to May 2003.

Lionel's early career includes positions at Mediacorp Pte Ltd as a Producer/Presenter from 1997 to 2003 and at Engelin Teh Practice LLC as a Pupil from 1999 to 2000.

Lionel Choi obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the National University of Singapore from 1995 to 1999. Lionel completed their GCE A-Levels at National Junior College from 1991 to 1992 and their GCE O-Levels at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) from 1987 to 1990. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as TEP from STEP – Advising Families Across Generations in 2009, Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales from the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 2003, and Advocate & Solicitor from the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2000.
