Emma Butler has a diverse work experience, starting in 2018 when they were chosen by Brown University to participate in the Venture Startup-Lab. During the summer of 2018, they started a venture called Intimately, which sells undergarments for women with disabilities. In 2019, Emma joined Liberare as CEO and Founder. Liberare focuses on designing functional clothing for disabled women, utilizing new fastening technology. Emma raised $1 million in funding from investors, including the British Fashion Council, Steph Korey, and Michelle Kennedy. Under Emma's leadership, Liberare launched Aerie x Liberare in August 2022 and contributed to disrupting the adaptive apparel market, estimated at $400 billion, and benefiting the global disabled community with a dispensary income of over $1 trillion. Emma also spent a brief period as a Content Marketer at Actiondesk from May 2019 to September 2019.
Emma Butler attended Portsmouth Abbey School from 2012 to 2016 and obtained a High School Diploma. From 2016 to 2020, they attended Brown University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, with a double major in French and Francophone Studies. In 2019, they participated in a study abroad program at the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, focusing on Les Arts Plastiques. Additionally, in 2019, they had an internship at Y Combinator. Emma also attended Rhode Island School of Design from 2016 to 2020, although no degree or field of study information is provided for that institution.
