Colin Penny

Executive VP, IT and Digital Transformation at Liberty Utilities

Colin Penny has a diverse and extensive work experience. Colin is currently serving as the Executive Vice President of IT and Digital Transformation at Liberty since November 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of VP IT Transformation at Liberty from November 2019 to November 2021. Colin was a Principal Consultant at a self-employed capacity from June 2018 to November 2019. Colin also served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX) from February 2016 to May 2018.

Before that, Colin worked at Hydro One, where they held the role of SVP Technology & Chief Information Officer from January 2013 to May 2018. Colin started their journey at Hydro One as the Director of Power System Information Technology in August 2009 and served until January 2013.

Colin's work experience also includes their tenure as the Director of Application Services at Black & Veatch from October 2005 to August 2009. During this period, they successfully delivered various large-scale operations technology projects at a significant electrical utility. Colin also developed go-to-market strategies for electric utility consulting services, focusing on areas such as cybersecurity and smart grid.

From September 2000 to October 2005, Colin worked as a Senior Consultant at Fortegra. In this role, they managed several technology projects for a large electrical utility, established a program management office, and led technical support organizations and capabilities.

Furthermore, Colin started their career as a Consultant at Accenture from July 1997 to September 2000 and as a System Engineer at Raytheon from June 1996 to July 1997.

Colin Penny holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Queen's University.
