Dora Hughes

Venture Partner at Lifeforce Capital

Dora Hughes is a venture partner at Lifeforce Capital. Dora has also served as the Chief Medical Officer at the CMS Innovation Center at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and as an Associate Research Professor at GWU Milken Institute School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management. Her work focuses on the intersection of clinical and community health, social determinants of health, health equity, healthcare quality and workforce.

Previously, Ms. Hughes served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Government Strategies practice at Sidley Austin LLP, where they advised on regulatory and legislative matters in the life science industry, including those pertaining to population health, drug coverage/pricing, digital health and biotechnology.

Dora has also served as Counselor for Science and Public Health at the US Department of Health & Human Services, and as Health Policy Advisor to Senator Barack Obama during their time in the United States Senate. In addition, Ms. Hughes served as Deputy Director for Health at the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions.

Dora Hughes has a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, a Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. Dora completed their residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
