Dorothy Truong

Clinical Biochemist, LifeLabs at LifeLabs

Dr. Truong joined the LifeLabs Chemistry Medical Scientific Team in 2017. Her responsibilities include specialized test interpretation and physician consultations in areas related to toxicology, biogenic amines and trace metals. She is also involved in multiple projects focusing on improving quality assurance, implementation of new technologies, and expanding LifeLabs mass spectrometry testing capabilities.

Dr. Truong obtained her doctoral degree in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. Her doctoral degree focused on understanding the mechanisms of bacterial invasion of human cells and the underlying signaling pathways induced by bacterial toxins. Following this, Dr. Truong completed and graduated from the University of Toronto Clinical Chemistry Fellowship program. Throughout her career, Dr. Truong has published over 15 scientific papers, conference abstracts and case reports. Dr. Truong has received over 20 awards for academic and research excellence, including the NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Society for Young Clinical Laboratorians Grant.
