Tom Closson

Tom is currently the principal of Tom Closson Consulting. Prior to this, he held the position of President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association, stepping down in 2012. Tom has previously held roles as President and Chief Executive Officer of the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto; President and CEO of the Capital Health Region in Victoria; and President and CEO of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Tom obtained experience in healthcare consulting as an owner of Medicus Canada and as a partner with KPMG. He has government experience with the Ontario Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Management Board.

He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, Health Quality Ontario and LifeLabs. He co-chairs the Health Policy Advisory Panel for C.D. Howe and is a volunteer advisor to entrepreneurs at the MaRS Discovery District.

Tom earned an MBA from York University in Toronto and graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering. Tom has been a member of LifeLabs’ Board of Directors since October 2009.
