Nick Gabry

Bioinformatics Engineer at LifeOmic

Nick is a broad range bioinformatician, data scientist, and software developer fascinated by the information they can gain about dynamic biological processes from computational workflows.

After receiving a BS in biopsychology from the University of Michigan in 2017, he went on to earn an MS in bioinformatics and PhD in biology/ecology from Indiana State University in 2023. During his graduate career Nick developed a next-generation sequencing metabardocing workflow and python-based processing toolkit to increase experimental efficacy and efficiency. He then utilized this to perform dietary profiling and habitat resource gauging for research on polymorphic reproductive phenotypes in a species of bird. Aside from his personal interest in avian models, Nick played a key role in the design, execution, and analysis of other NGS projects ranging in both scope (ChIP-seq, RNAseq, metabarcoding) and instrumentation (Ion Torrent, Illumina, PacBio). Passionate about health, science, and all-things sequencing, his main focus now lies in developing tools and transforming data to facilitate research and generate positive impact in a human oriented fashion.
