Heather Besonen, SHRM-SCP, is a seasoned human resources and operations executive with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as the Chief People Officer at Lifeworks Services, Inc. since February 2025, Besonen previously held positions including Chief Operating Officer and Vice President at Guild Services, and Human Resources Director at Minnesota Community Care. A former Associate Executive Director at the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, Besonen has also held leadership roles in human resources at CommonBond Communities and Whole Foods Market. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota and completion of a TCHRA Certification Course, alongside an academic foundation from St. Paul Academy.

Lifeworks is a Minnesota 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1965 by parents of children with disabilities. Our mission is to partner with people with disabilities to drive change by increasing opportunity and access in the community. We envision a community where people with disabilities are more broadly valued, hired by employers, receiving support, and participating in ordinary activities. Through Fiscal Support, Employment, and Day Services – as well as through partnerships with nearly 300 businesses – Lifeworks provides support to 2,500 individuals with disabilities and their families throughout the Twin Cities and greater Mankato area.
