Ahmed Hussein is a highly experienced engineer specializing in hardware and software simulation, with a strong focus on the development of runtime libraries for photonic machine learning accelerators. Currently serving as a Staff Hardware Simulation Engineer at Lightmatter since July 2025, Ahmed has held pivotal roles including Senior Simulation Engineer at Ark and Head of Software Engineering at Neurophos. Previous experiences encompass significant positions at Canon Nanotechnologies, ANSYS, Inc., and the Air Force Research Laboratory, alongside academic contributions as a course creator and instructor at The Johns Hopkins University. Ahmed Hussein holds a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Master's degree in Solid and Structural Mechanics and a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cairo University.
