Senior Staff Engineer at Lightmatter

Mykhailo Tymchenko is a Senior Staff Engineer at Lightmatter since July 2019, previously serving as a Photonics Design Engineer. Prior to this role, Mykhailo worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2013 to May 2019, focusing on nonlinear metasurfaces and electromagnetics. Mykhailo gained experience as an intern at Nokia Bell Labs, conducting simulations for high-speed electrooptic modulators, and as a Junior Research Fellow at the Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics, studying plasmonic diffraction gratings. Additionally, Mykhailo was a visiting scholar at the University of Zaragoza, identifying giant Faraday rotation in graphene, and had early experience as a PHP Developer at Flexaspect. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Physics from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
