Soumik Ukil

Soumik Ukil has a diverse work experience in the field of computer vision and machine learning. Soumik is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of LightMetrics, a company that focuses on providing better data and actionable insights into driving behavior using computer vision and machine learning. Before founding LightMetrics in 2015, Soumik worked as a Principal Researcher at Nokia Technologies from 2014 to 2015, where they led a multi-site project on developing a computer vision system. Soumik also worked as a Principal Researcher at Nokia Research Center from 2011 to 2014, where they contributed to the development of computer vision algorithms and cross-platform applications. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Specialist at Nokia from 2010 to 2011 and as a Systems Software Engineer at TeraRecon, Inc. from 2006 to 2010. Soumik started their career as an intern at VIDA Diagnostics in 2005. Throughout their career, they have contributed to multiple patents and has been involved in the development of production-ready code and algorithms.

Soumik Ukil completed their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, between the years 1997 and 2001. Soumik then pursued a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, which they obtained between 2001 and 2006.
