Merilee Smith

Merilee Smith currently serves as the IPU Manager at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, a position held since August 2023. Prior to this role, Smith was the Area Director of Education at Kindred Hospice from October 2018 to August 2023, following the merger with Avalon Hospice, where Smith also held the same title. Smith has extensive experience in hospice care, having worked as the Director of Operations for Avalon Hospice from 2016 to 2018, and as Hospice Clinical Director at Family Home Health Services LLC from 2013 to 2016. Earlier roles include Clinical Service Manager at Evercare Hospice and Palliative Care and IPU Clinical Supervisor at Ingalls Hospice and Palliative Care. Smith began a career in management with a significant tenure as Managing Director of Advertising Sales at The New York Times from 1983 to 1998. Smith holds a BSN in Nursing from Aurora University and a Bachelor's degree in Management and Marketing from Philadelphia University.
