Electronics Design Engineer at Lightyear

Jason Harrison has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Jason is currently working at Lightyear as an Electronics Design Engineer, where they serve as the team lead for the design of in-car media systems and advises on ECAD/EDA tools and design processes. Jason also specializes in Solar Power Systems Design.

Prior to Lightyear, Jason worked at Ampyx Power as an Electronics Design Engineer. In this role, they contributed to the design of electronic systems.

Jason's experience at Petalite includes multiple roles. As the Head of Engineering Operations, they were responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering design department and leading a team of engineers. Jason also served as an Electronic Design Engineer, where they worked on various complex systems, involving schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware development, component selection, BOM management, soldering, and rework. Additionally, they worked as an Electronics Design Engineer (Placement) during their time at Petalite.

At Civico Limited, Jason held the role of Electronic Design Engineer / Head of Department (Placement). Jason managed projects and a small team, focusing on designing hardware to support audio conferencing equipment and a cloud-based webcasting platform. Jason also guided the company in their first venture into electronics hardware.

Jason's earliest work experience involved teaching IT skills as an Associate Lecturer at Birmingham Metropolitan College and supporting technology as a Mobile Support Technician at Home Group. Jason also worked as a Consultant during their time as a self-employed individual.

Before that, Jason gained experience as a Help Desk Analyst at Telectronics, providing support for hotel reservations and EPOS software. Jason also worked as a Trainer in Information Technology at Milton Keynes College, where they assisted students with Microsoft Office applications and developed training materials.

Jason's first role was as a Sales Assistant at bp.

Jason Harrison completed their education as follows:

- From 2012 to 2017, they attended Aston University, where they obtained a Masters of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

- In 2019, they took a short course at The Institution of Engineering and Technology, focusing on mastering requirements using Model Based Systems Engineering.

- Also in 2019, they completed a short course at Armada (Autodesk authorised Training Centre) on Fusion 360 Essentials.

- In the same year, they participated in a 2-week summer course at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) in the field of Systems Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Jason has obtained several certifications and achievements, which include:

- Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Ed Wiring Regulations - BS 7671:2018) obtained in June 2019 from City & Guilds.

- PRINCE2® 2017 Practitioner certification (Expired Dec 2020) and PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Training, both acquired in December 2017 from AXELOS Global Best Practice.

- Access to Higher Education certification in Software Development obtained in August 2012 from Ascentis (Awarding Organisation).

- Tough Mudder Finisher achievement in May 2012 from Tough Mudder LLC.

- Climbed Kilimanjaro in December 2009, recognized by Tanzania National Parks.

- Supporting Users - Applications and Supporting Users - XP OS certifications obtained in January 2008 from Microsoft.

- Microsoft Office Specialist - Access 2000 and Microsoft Office Specialist - Word 2000 Expert certifications obtained in January 2003 from Microsoft.

- Microsoft Certified Professional - Install, Config, Administer Windows 2000 Server (215) obtained in July 2002 from Microsoft.

- Certificate in Computer Programming (C++) - Level 3 obtained in 2002 from City & Guilds.
