Joana Gil Chavez

Joana Gil Chavez has a diverse work experience in various scientific and research roles. Joana is the Founder/CEO of Lignopure, a company focused on lignin upcycling and the development of high-value applications for lignin. Prior to this, Joana worked as a Research Associate/PhD student at Hamburg University of Technology, where they focused on the formulation and application of lignin in consumer goods. Joana also served as the Head of Department of Innovation and Product Development at ICT Internacional, where they were responsible for project management and scouting opportunities for natural-based products. Joana also gained experience in renewable energies as a Professional Intern at GICON GmbH and as a Professional Development Program/Bilateral project developer at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Early in their career, Joana completed research internships focused on food science and technology at CIAD and the Northwest Center for Biological Research.

Joana Gil Chavez has an education history that includes a range of specialized degrees. Joana began their education at the Institute of Technology of Sonora, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology Engineering with a focus on Food Science and Technology. After completing their undergraduate studies, Joana pursued a Master's degree in Food Engineering at CIAD (Research Center in Food and Development) from 2010 to 2012. Joana then continued to expand their expertise by enrolling in the Hamburg University of Technology, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Verfahrenstechnik from 2015 to 2019.

In addition to their formal education, Joana Gil Chavez has also obtained several certifications. In December 2014, they completed Management Training I and II at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Joana also acquired the certification of Energy Efficiency Manager from the TÜV SÜD Akademie GmbH in July 2014.
