Damion Zura has over 17 years of work experience in various roles within the communications and information technology field. Currently, they are employed as a Network Engineer at Linchpin Solutions, Inc. starting in November 2021.
Prior to this, Zura worked as a NetOps Mid (WLAN) at STRATASCORP from March 2019, where they were responsible for network operations.
Between August 2014 and October 2018, Zura served as an Information Systems Technician Chief (ITC) at Communications Command, Mobile Contingency Communications West (COMMCOM MCC West). In this role, they supervised a team of six personnel and was responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting satellite communications, VoIP telephone systems, computer systems, networks, cabling infrastructure, and video teleconferencing units.
From August 2012 to August 2014, Zura participated in the Advanced Computer, Engineering and Technology (ACET) Program at Coast Guard Headquarters DCMS-81.
Zura gained valuable experience as an Information Systems Technician Chief (ITC) at Command, Control, and Communications Engineering Center (C3CEN) from June 2008 to August 2012. During this time, they worked with a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) and software engineers to maintain and operate the Communications Station Automation System (CSAS) network.
Starting in August 2007, Zura worked as an Informations Systems Technician First Class (IT1) at Communications Area Master Station Pacific (CAMSPAC). Damion was responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the unit's telephone system, data and voice circuits, cabling infrastructure, and network hardware.
From June 2004 to August 2007, Zura served on the Coast Guard Cutter Munro (CGC Munro) as an Information Systems Technician First Class (IT1). In this role, they maintained and operated the ship's public address systems, satellite systems, telephone system, and served as the system administrator for computer systems and networks. Additionally, they were responsible for coordinating qualification boards and maintaining the in-port watch rotation schedule as the Junior Officer of the Deck (JOOD) coordinator.
Throughout their career, Damion Zura has demonstrated expertise in network engineering, satellite communications, VoIP telephone systems, computer systems, and network troubleshooting.
Damion Zura pursued their education at the University of Maryland Global Campus from 2011 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity.
