Aaron Thomas

Special Assistant To The President at Lincoln Memorial University

Dr. Aaron Thomas, Special Assistant to the President, joined the President’s Office in 2021. He creates and supports special projects for the Office of the President, including departmental advising and consultation for university administrators and university committees. Dr. Thomas also serves as an Instructor within the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to joining LMU, Dr. Thomas taught courses on world and American history at the undergraduate level for eight years. He also worked in an administrative role for the Agricultural History Society where he helped with fundraising, conference planning, and member outreach, among numerous other tasks. At the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library he processed and catalogued the largest private collection of Abraham Lincoln artifacts and original nineteenth-century documents. Dr. Thomas received his Ph.D. in History from Mississippi State University in 2020. He graduated with an MA in History from East Tennessee State University, and a BA in both History and English from East Tennessee State University. Originally from Burnsville, North Carolina, he now lives in the Cumberland Gap with his wife, Katie, and their pack of family pets. He particularly enjoys the beautiful southern Appalachian mountains, and the outdoors in general. Most of all, he appreciates time spent with Katie and their fluffy companions.
