Steve Thompson

Steve Thompson is an accomplished professional in conservation and programmatic planning, currently serving as Major Retired at Lincoln Park Zoo since July 2019. From September 2008 to the present, Steve has held the position of Senior Vice President of Capital and Programmatic Planning, overseeing the development of programs and project management for the zoo's capital campaign. Previously, Steve served as the Senior Vice President of Conservation Programs and held the Emily and John Alexander Chair of Conservation and Science, as well as the Vice President of Conservation & Science role at Lincoln Park Zoo. Steve's career began at the National Zoological Park, Smithsonian Institution, and includes significant academic achievements with a PhD in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from UC Irvine, a BS in Zoology from San Diego State University, and an AA in General Education from Santa Monica College.
