Louis Roquet

2014 to 2016 – Mr. Roquet was nominated by the Québec Government to serve as Chair of Investissement Québec’s board of directors and has much experience as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of various private companies (Desjardins Venture Capital, Cevital) and public corporations (Société des alcools du Québec (“SAQ”), Montréal Urban Community).

As the President and Chief Operating Officer at Desjardins Venture Capital (now Desjardins Business Capital régional et coopératif), Mr. Roquet was responsible for managing the activities of all Desjardins’ venture capital funds, as well as those of Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins. He also served as a Director until 2009. He was Chief Executive Officer and President at the SAQ.

Effective January 1, 2010, Dr. Roquet was named the Montréal’s City Manager and was handed the task of tightening municipal contract-awarding rules. He was the President and General Manager/Chief Executive Officer at Investissement Québec Inc. (Québec’s Société de développement industriel) from 1995 to 2002. In February 1994, City of Montréal appointed Mr.. Roquet as the City Manager and served in that position until January 1995. In October 1990, The Montréal Urban Community appointed him as the Director General. He served as a Vice President of Steinberg Québec, Chairman of the Board and Director of Canada Media Fund until June 25, 2013, Director of Cevital SPA and Maison des Futailles, L.P., as an Independent Director of Birks Group Inc. (formerly, Birks & Mayors Inc) 2007-2014, and since 2016. He is a past Chairman of Centraide Du Grand Montréal.

In 1991, he was cited as one of 20 most distinguished M.B.A. from the program at Montréal’s Hautes Études Commerciales. The M.B.A. Association of Québec awarded him the title of M.B.A. of the Year for 2004. Dr. Roquet is a graduate of Harvard University, where he earned a Doctorate of Business Administration and of École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal with an M.B.A. in Finance and International Administration.
