Delbert Jones

Delbert Jones, CISSP, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cyber security. Currently, they serve as the Director of Cyber Security at LinQuest starting from February 2021. Prior to this, Delbert worked as an Instructor at CyberVista from August 2017, where they delivered CISSP and Sec+ certification curriculum, developed custom lessons covering offensive penetration techniques and cyber defense methods, and facilitated cyber response table top exercises.

Before joining CyberVista, Delbert held the position of Program Manager/Master Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology from November 2012 to January 2021. In this role, they managed a small team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support DoD CIO Tactical Data Link Enterprise. Delbert conducted analysis, recommended policy changes, and provided cyber security analysis and recommendations to increase system resilience and survivability against cyber attacks for tactical RF systems.

Delbert's work experience also includes serving in the United States Air Force in various leadership roles. From September 2010 to October 2012, they served as the Chief of Airborne Communications Requirements, where they formulated future airborne networking system requirements, provided operational justification for funding, and delivered critical communications for worldwide combat operations. Additionally, they served as the Commander of the 460th Space Communications Squadron from August 2008 to August 2010, leading the development and implementation of base-wide Information Technology systems and managing a team of 246 employees.

Before joining the Air Force, Delbert worked as the Deputy Chief of the Communications Operations Branch from 2006 to 2008, managing and implementing communications planning for all European theater war plans. Delbert led joint multinational planning teams, coordinated with various entities, and implemented secure network and communications systems. Delbert was recognized with multiple awards for their exceptional performance during this time.

Earlier in their career, Delbert served as an Information Systems Flight Commander in the US Air Force from 2002 to 2005 and as the Commander of Det 3, SSSG from 1994 to 1996.

Delbert Jones, CISSP, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology Computer Electronics from San Jose State University, which they obtained from 1984 to 1990. Delbert also possesses a Masters of Business Administration degree in Management from Bellevue University, earned between 1997 and 1998. Furthermore, Delbert pursued higher education at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology from 2005 to 2006, where they achieved a Masters of Science degree in Strategic Leadership, Finance, and Information Security. Most recently, they received a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Certificate in Financial Planning and Services from Bryant University, completed in 2017. In addition to their academic background, they hold the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium.
