Sae Ra Germaine, MICDA, is the Deputy CEO of CAVAL since October 2010, where responsibilities include aligning strategic objectives with the CEO, board, and stakeholders. Previously, Sae Ra held roles such as Manager of Member & Academic Services and Manager of Member Services & Digital Platforms, focusing on member engagement and digital platform growth. Additionally, Sae Ra serves as Co-Chair of the Everything Open Session Selection Committee at Linux Australia and is the President of VALA Libraries Technology and the Future Inc. Other roles include active participation in advisory committees for auDA and former leadership positions with Internet Australia and linux.conf.au. Sae Ra holds a Bachelor of Computing (Honours) and a Bachelor of Computing from Federation University Australia.

Linux Australia is the peak body for Linux User Groups (LUGs) around Australia, and as such represents approximately 5000 Australian linux users and developers. Chief among its activities is facilitating linux.conf.au, one of the world's top Linux and Open Source conferences.
