Jessica L. has been working in the field of psychology since 2011. Jessica began their career as a Clinical Psychology Intern at The Help Group. Jessica then moved on to a Post-Doctoral Fellow position at the Audrey Hepburn Childrens House in 2012, where they conducted forensic psychosocial evaluations of suspected victims of child abuse/maltreatment. In 2013, they became a Clinical Supervisor/Psychologist at Rikers Island Correctional Facility, where they oversaw the mental health care of 350+ adult males with a wide variety of high acuity mental health challenges. In 2015, they joined New York University School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Senior Psychologist on the Bellevue/NYU Juvenile Justice Mental Health Team. In 2019, they became a Licensed Psychologist at the Thriving Center of Psychology and the Director of Youth Services at The Lionheart Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and providing expanding access to social and emotional learning programs.

Jessica L. obtained a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Psychology from the University of Miami in 2006. Jessica then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in School Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2012. Afterwards, they obtained Post-Doctoral Certifications in Criminal and Family Forensic Psychology from Montclair State University in 2013. In 2016, Jessica L. obtained a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner degree from the Somatic Experiencing Institute. Additionally, they have obtained a Licensed Psychologist certification from New York State.
