Jasper van Weerd has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. In 2008, they were a Researcher at Zebra Bioscience BV, working on the EU research project HIBISCUS. From 2010 to 2016, they were a Lecturer and Post-doc Researcher at the University of Twente, providing bachelor and master courses in applied cell biology and researching novel applications of small antibodies, supramolecular chemistry and dynamic cell surfaces. In 2016, they were also awarded a NanoNextNL valorisation grant from the University of Twente. Additionally, they were the Founder and Managing Director of LipoCoat BV, a startup company of the University of Twente. The company specializes in revolutionary coating technology that makes any (bio)material surface non-thrombogenic, non-fouling and resistant towards surface pollution of micro-organisms and proteins.
Jasper van Weerd has a comprehensive educational background, beginning with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Medical Laboratory Research from Saxion University of Applied Sciences from 2003 to 2007. Jasper then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering (Molecular, Cellular and Tissue Engineering) from the University of Twente from 2007 to 2010. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biology and supramolecular chemistry from the University of Twente in 2014.
