Derek Smart

Derek Smart has a diverse work experience spanning over 17 years. Derek is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Liquibase since August 2020. Prior to this, Derek worked as an Owner and Software Development Consultant at Grindaga from June 2017. At Grindaga, they helped businesses improve their technologies through team training, SDLC workflow, and web and mobile application development.

From March 2018 to August 2020, Derek worked as a Senior Staff Engineer at Delphix. Before that, they served as the Director of Software Engineering at Payscape from August 2015 to July 2017, and as the Lead Developer from May 2010 to August 2015.

Derek also has experience as a Freelance Interactive Designer, working independently from October 2005 to July 2010. Additionally, they worked at MD Publishing as a Web Master and Developer from June 2008 to May 2010, and at PlayMotion as an Artist from May 2006 to October 2006.

Derek's career began at C-Marc Productions, where they worked as an Editor/Animator from August 2003 to May 2006.

Derek Smart pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Computer Animation from The Art Institutes. Derek attended the school from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, they obtained two certifications: Professional Scrum Master I from Scrum.org in May 2014, and Professional Scrum Product Owner I, also from Scrum.org, in the same month and year.
