General Partner at Liquid2 Ventures

Mike Miller is a founding partner at Liquid 2 Ventures, LLC, a new venture fund focused on early stage technology investment. Mike's personal areas of expertise include machine learning/AI, cloud services, infrastructure, enterprise software, IoT and anything science. Mike believes in founding great teams with audacious goals, especially those using software to displace existing monopolies and market inefficiencies.

Prior to Liquid 2 Ventures, Mike was an affiliate professor and research assistant professor at the University of Washington where they studied nature's fundamental particles and interactions. In particular, they were part of the 'wild-west' hunt to see Dark Matter in the lab. Dark Matter is five times more prevalent in the universe than all of the other known particles.

Mike is also the founder and chief scientist of IBM Cloudant (now IBM Cloud Data Services), which they co-founded out of MIT as part of YCombinator in 2008. Mike raised $18MM for the company before it was acquired by IBM in 2014. Mike's responsibilities at IBM Cloudant included fund raising, technical architecture, sales, recruiting, developer relations, support, operations, evangelism, and long term product R&D.

Before their work at IBM Cloudant and the University of Washington, Mike was a Tier-0 Coordinator at CERN and a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mike Miller has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Yale University in Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics, which they obtained in 1999. Mike also has a degree from Michigan State University in Physics, which they obtained in 1994.
