Carmen Peota is the Learning Center Coordinator for the evening program at the Open Door Learning Center-Northeast. She loves teaching and learning, and believes literacy leads to opportunity. She’s a long-time fan of Literacy Minnesota. Prior to this position, she substituted for site coordinators and teachers, and was a volunteer teacher. She also has been a magazine editor and writer. She has a TEFL certificate from Hamline University, and studied journalism at the University of Minnesota and cross-cultural communications at Bethel University. She is curious about the world and enjoys traveling and meeting people from other countries. She loves being outside (in the summer), whether on her feet, bike, or kayak; reading; listening to music (she studied violin for many years); studying Spanish; and being with friends and family.
