Leticia RIos Spillane

Board President at Literacy Volunteers of Laredo

Leticia Rios Spillane received her B.A. degree from the University of North Texas in Political Science and an M.S. degree from Texas A&M International University in Special Education. She is a certified Texas educator with the following endorsements: Legacy Master Reading Teacher (EC-12), English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies (4-8), Generic Special Education (Pk-12) and a Reading Specialist (EC-12). She has also been an adjunct instructor for Texas A&M International University under the College of Education teaching advanced reading coursework, and provided consulting work for TEA Write for Texas. Currently, she is an Associate Professor with Laredo College teaching both U.S. Federal Government and Texas Government courses. Prior to teaching government courses at Laredo College, Leticia was a Reading and Writing developmental education instructor. In addition, she runs a home tutoring business working with students with dyslexia. As board president to Literacy Volunteers of America, she brings her broad knowledge of reading and writing curriculum and instruction, business management experience, and leadership skills.
