James obtained additional certifications including ABIM, Infectious Diseases from The American Board of Internal Medicine in October 2010, HIV Specialist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine in August 2009, and ABIM, Internal Medicine from The American Board of Internal Medicine in August 2008.
