Peter Richert has extensive experience in emergency services, currently serving as Fire Captain at Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department since February 1996. Prior to this role, Peter worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic at Piedmont Fire Department for one year. Peter began their career in emergency medical services as a Paramedic at American Medical Response from August 1985 to February 1995 and continued in the field at John Muir Medical Center from April 1988 to February 1996. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Biology from Saint Mary's College of California, along with additional studies at Foothill College and San Francisco State University, as well as completing high school at Acalanes High School.

As an emergency response and community service organization, LPFD's goals are to limit the risk of fire, to limit injury and property damage associated with fire, explosions, hazardous materials incidents, storms or other natural and technological emergencies; to prepare city forces for disaster response, and to better prepare the community for self help in the event of a major disaster.
