Janne Aikio

Janne Aikio has a strong background in the field of research and development, particularly in optical technologies. They have worked in various roles throughout their career, starting as a research trainee at VTT Electronics in 1997. They then progressed to become a research scientist at the same company before moving to VTT in 2004, where they held positions such as senior research scientist, technology manager, deputy technology manager, team leader, research manager, and principal scientist. In 2019, their position at FocalSpec Oy was transferred to LMI Technologies, where they have held roles as a senior optical engineer, senior R&D scientist, and currently as a principal R&D scientist. Janne also took on consulting work as a technology R&D expert during a sabbatical in 2019.

Janne Aikio obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Theoretical Physics and Cosmology from the University of Oulu in 1997. Subsequently, from 1998 to 2004, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from both the University of Oulu and the Graduate school of modern optics and photonics. In 1999 and 2000, Aikio also served as a visiting scholar at the University of Arizona, specifically in the Optical Sciences Center's Optical Data Storage Center.
