Rongen Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Rongen began their career in 2005 as an Automated Channel Developer at HSBC, where they were responsible for project planning and the development of the internet banking system. From 2010 to 2012, they worked at Simon Fraser University as a Graduate Student and NSERC Funded Researcher, focusing on Angular Domain Imaging (ADI) on biological scattering medium. Rongen also served as a Teaching Assistant for an engineering course during this time. In 2013, they joined PhoeniX Technologies Incorporated as a Product System Engineer, where they were involved in hardware and software development/testing for the PTI Active 3D Motion Capture System. Rongen also worked on product enhancement and bug fixing. In 2016, they joined Mumbear Technology Ltd. as a Software Engineer before moving to LMI Technologies in 2019. At LMI Technologies, they started as a Software Engineer and later became the Sensor Software Team Lead.
Rongen Cheng completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) (Honors) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Simon Fraser University, between 2004 and 2009. They pursued further education and earned a Master of Applied Sciences (M.A.Sc.) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, specializing in Laser and Optical Engineering, from Simon Fraser University, between 2010 and 2012.
