Joe Kiani is a renowned entrepreneur and humanitarian, as well as the co-founder of Like Minded Media Ventures. Like Minded Media Ventures is where art and technology intersect — creating content through Like Minded Entertainment that focuses on social causes, science, and true stories and developing custom technology, through Like Minded Labs, that activates audiences and empowers storytellers. The company’s proprietary distribution technology and video player, TODA, is an award-winning platform that offers the opportunity to host customizable virtual gatherings such as live sporting and educational events — integrated with powerful video tools.

Kiani is also the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Masimo, headquartered in Irvine, California. Masimo is one of the world’s most admired medical technology companies, known for developing and manufacturing a variety of breakthrough noninvasive patient monitoring technologies, as well as advanced hospital connectivity and automation solutions, and telehealth, consumer health, and consumer audio products. Kiani co-invented what is known as “modern pulse oximetry” in 1989, and now has over 600 patents to his name. Masimo technologies now monitor more than 200 million patients a year around the world. Kiani is also the Founder and CEO of Cercacor, a spinoff of Masimo dedicated to providing personalized health insights.

In 2012, Mr. Kiani founded the non-profit Patient Safety Movement Foundation to eliminate preventable patient harm around the world. He is also the founder of the Masimo Foundation, which advocates for positive changes in the medical industry and access to quality care around the world.

Kiani is the recipient of multiple awards as an inventor, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, including the prestigious Ernst & Young’s National Life Science Entrepreneur Award, the Hubert H. Humphrey Dawn of Life Award, the Society of Critical Care Innovation Award, and the IPO Education Foundation’s first IP Champion Award. Kiani speaks at events around the world, championing the rights of those who are not always empowered to speak for themselves.

Kiani is a board member for numerous organizations and institutions, including the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the Chapman University’s President’s Cabinet, and the Clinton Foundation Executive Council. He is an advisory board member for the University of California at Irvine (UCI) Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. Joe was appointed to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) in 2021.

Along with Chris Evans and Mark Kassen, Joe co-founded A Starting Point, a civic engagement platform. The organization’s mission is to create a more informed electorate via bipartisan communication between elected officials and Americans.

Joe received both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from San Diego State University (SDSU) at just 22 years of age. Kiani has also received Honorary Doctorate of Science degrees from San Diego State University and Chapman University.
