Melvin Tan

CFO at Locafy

Melvin Tan is the current CFO at Locafy. Prior to this, they were an independent business consultant and financial controller at Gemcom Software International.

Tan has over fifteen years of experience in developing and recommending operational and growth strategies, assessing performance against business plans and budgets, and managing finances. Melvin has also been responsible for all legal and statutory compliance for their previous employers.

In 2006, Tan was involved in the acquisition of Australian company Surpac Minex Group Pty Ltd for A$34 million. Melvin was also responsible for the sale of Gemcom in 2008 to private equity partners Carlyle Group, JMI Equity and Pala Investments for C$189 million.

Tan has also established companies in Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

Melvin Tan is a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) who graduated from CPA Australia. Melvin also holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (FGIA / FCIS) from the Governance Institute of Australia. In addition, they have a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from The University of Western Australia.
