Rio Rocket Valledor has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Rio Rocket started their career as a Freelance Designer at Bernholz Associates in 1998, where they worked on projects such as the Jayanti Residence hi-end interior woodwork and Dolan Residence Pavilion. In 1999, Valledor joined Downtown Group Architects as an Associate, where they served as a Designer, Manager, and Construction Administrator for various projects, including the Kane/Tell triplex Tribeca loft, Kaplow Communications office redesign, and Sound One Studios expansion.
Valledor also worked as a Freelance Writer for Theme Magazine in 2005 and Vibe Media in 2006. In 2007, they joined Ralph Appelbaum Associates as a Project Director/Manager/Planner, leading the design of the Culture Galleries at the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History & Culture. Notably, Valledor also directed and produced the "Geronima" video-piece from 2011 to 2022.
Aside from their architectural and artistic pursuits, Valledor managed art estates, including the Leo Valledor Art Estate and Carlos Villa Art Estate. Currently, Valledor holds the position of Director of Physical Design at Local Projects, starting in 2023.
Rio Rocket Valledor attended Pratt Institute from 1987 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree. Their field of study was architecture.
