Physical Designer at Local Projects

Sam Richman has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Sam is currently working as an Adjunct Lecturer at The City College of New York since August 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Junior Physical Designer at Local Projects starting from March 2022.

From August 2020 to May 2022, Sam worked as an Architectural Designer & Development Lead at Fundamental Design Build Initiative. During this time, they collaborated with a Mexico-based art collective and local Mexican government officials to design and build a public theater and playground. Sam also designed and built the playground, including swings, rings, hammocks, and climbing apparatuses. Additionally, they worked with the local government to plan garden spaces with endangered species.

Before that, from July 2019 to August 2020, Sam worked as a Teacher Assistant at The City College of New York. Sam also worked as a Designer and Coordinator at IG Theatre Company from July 2015 to August 2020, where they designed sets, lighting, and costumes for various productions and managed deliveries, setup, support staff, and talent. Sam also served as an in-house photographer.

Sam had a short-term position as an Urban Design Fellowship at Openbox in July 2019, where they conducted research and prepared documents on recycling habits and scaffolding use in NYC. Sam also served as a Quality Control Manager at John Mini Distinctive Landscapes from November 2017 to January 2019.

In August 2016, Sam worked as a Site Coordinator at The Lowline, where they coordinated staff and events during public weekends and expanded the educational Lab component and merchandise area based on public feedback. Sam also worked as a Producer for a GirlTrek Promotion Video at openbox in August 2017.

Sam's earliest work experience was as an Engagement Design Specialist in a freelance capacity from November 2012 to July 2014. In this role, they contributed as an author to a textbook on gamification, gamified a graduate psychology class, and provided consultation on gamification for Training for Success employees.

Sam Richman's education history includes the following:
