Somia Elmartaoui

Somia Elmartaoui is an experienced Event Officer currently working at the London Borough of Hackney since June 2018. Previously, Somia served as a Senior Event Officer (Special Projects) at the London Borough of Lambeth from 2007 to September 2017, and held a position in the Independent Advisory Network at the British Transport Police from 2007 to 2009, focusing on community consultation to enhance Force policy and practice. Earlier experience includes contributing to the Metropolitan Police Diversity Training Support Unit from 2000 to 2002, where important issues of institutional racism were addressed following the Stephen Lawrence report. Somia holds a BA Hons in English Literature and Sociology from London Metropolitan University, completed in 2004, and attended St Angelas Ursuline Convent School.
