Daniel Palmacci

President, Cell & Gene at Lonza

Daniel Palmacci is the current President of Cell & Gene at Lonza. Daniel has also previously served as the Global Head of Vaccines & Biologics Strategic Facility Creation at MSD, the Global Head of Bioproduction & CEO of Sandoz GmbH at Novartis, and the Site Head of Schaftenau DP at Novartis.

Palmacci has over 25 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Daniel began their career in 1995 as a project engineer at Boehringer Mannheim. Daniel then joined Roche in 1997, where they held various positions in engineering, manufacturing, and technical operations before moving to Novartis in 2009.

At Novartis, Palmacci served as the Global Head of External Supplier Operations Biopharmaceuticals from 2015 to 2017. In this role, they were responsible for leading the external supplier operations team and ensuring that all biopharmaceutical products were manufactured according to Novartis quality standards.

In 2017, Palmacci was promoted to Site Head of Schaftenau DP. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of site operations, including production, quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

In 2018, Palmacci was again promoted, this time to Global Head of Bioproduction & CEO of Sandoz GmbH. In this role, they were responsible for leading the global manufacturing network for biologics drug substance and overseeing all biologics manufacturing

Daniel Palmacci has a Master's in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin, as well as a Corporate University General degree from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Daniel Palmacci works with Caroline Barth - CHRO, Gordon Bates - President, Small Molecules Division, and Jean - Christophe Hyvert - President, Biologics & Cell & Gene Divisions. Daniel Palmacci reports to Pierre-Alain Ruffieux, CEO & Board Member.
